Although lately, through some specialized softwares, web pages and even applications allows mining through a smartphone, the answer is a simple no. To be able to mine requires a huge computing capacity (hundreds of machines) and to assume large costs of electricity, even probably a personal computer is not even capable of being viable for the mining of cryptocurrencies because it does not possess the specialized hardware.

Assigning cell phones to perform such work will not only be an unsuccessful task in terms of energy and time of return, but also would be putting the equipment at risk by subjecting it to such computing requirements (overheating and wear of electronic components). It is possible that cell phones someday have a higher computing capacity, but because of its multiprocessor nature (mandatory for a smartphone) and because of the rapid technological advance of computers for mining, it will probably never be important in this world.
